Amora's Story

On Saturday, August 13th 2011 a man came to the Cleveland City Kennel with a dog in his arms. This dog could not walk, was emaciated, and unable to lift its head. When a Friends of the Cleveland Kennel volunteer saw this baby, laying helplessly in her cage...she was immediately rushed to our veterinarian. Unable to move, or even lift her head - it was evident that this dog had suffered a great deal before ending up at the Cleveland Kennel animal control.

Shortly afterwards, she was named Amora (meaning love). She was thoroughly examined, and then put on IV fluids. Amora was diagnosed with having parvo. As a weak, emaciated young adult dog we saw how this almost took her life. She would not have survived another day on her own. Amora was slowly dying.

In the days that passed, we watched her slowly be able to lift her head, then progressed to trying to stand, and then able to walk. Amora's eyes went from a blank stare, to eventually having that spark in them again. She looked at the volunteers who visited her with nothing but love and THANK YOU written in her expression.

Amora is still recovering and being hospitalized currently. She is doing much better every day. Her recovery from this parvovirus has taken much longer than anticipated, and will easily add to up to at least $2,000 for our organization. We are hoping to raise some funds to be able to pay for these bills for Amora's care. Any contribution you can provide is so very appreciated. Thank you for your support, and giving us the ability to save dogs like Amora.
